The Top 12 Cancer-Causing products in the Average Home

Among many other cancer causing products commonly found in the home, this dirty dozen list has made it to the Hall of Shame. The Cancer Prevention Coalition (CPC) and Ralph Nader have released a “Dirty Dozen” list of consumer products used in most American homes, and manufactured by giant U.S. corporations.

The “Dirty Dozen” products contain a wide-range of carcinogenic and other toxic ingredients and contaminants to which most of us are exposed daily.

“What is particularly galling about the “Dirty Dozen”, emphasized Ralph Nader, “is that these toxic chemicals don’t have to be there. Yet these corporations continue to expose people to health hazards unnecessarily”.

Current product labeling provides no warning for cancer and other chronic health risks. Food is labeled for cholesterol, but not for carcinogens. Cosmetics are labeled for major ingredients, but not for those that form carcinogens or contain carcinogenic contaminants. Except for pesticides, household products contain no information on their ingredients.

Cancer rates are skyrocketing. Currently, more than one-third of all of us will develop cancer in our lifetime, and one-fourth will die from the disease. Many cancers are due to avoidable exposures to industrial carcinogens in the food we eat, and the cosmetics and household products we use.

13) Most Brand-Name Laundry Detergents

These are commonly loaded with extremely toxic chemicals. Residues of these chemicals are left on your clothes and are absorbed by your skin and evaporated into the air where they could be breathed in. In a study conducted by Clemson University, 2% of a fabric’s weight comes from laundry detergent. It was found that this is equivalent to a full scoop of laundry detergent that is accumulated on the clothing wash after wash. And the skin absorbs 75% of what any fat soluble substances that are on the surface within 26 seconds, specially during perspiration. A Self-Care to A Self-Cure for Celiac Dis-Ease and Osteoporosis!

It is now common knowledge that celiac disease is a condition that is associated with gluten found in wheat, barley and rye.  Now there is a new study showing non-gluten proteins also found in wheat, barley and rye will also contribute to celiac disease.

Why?  

Because wheat, barley and rye are highly acidic foods which comprise the alkaline environment of the small and large intestines and damage the intestinal villi in the small intestines which then leads to celiac disease.  Now there is a self-cure for celiac disease and osteoporosis when significant alkalizing lifestyle and dietary changes are made.  These changes from an acidic diet to an alkaline diet are absolutely necessary in order to prevent, reverse and cure celiac disease including the degeneration of the bones called osteoporosis.

 

“People with celiac dis-ease or acidic damage to the root system or intestinal villi of the small intestine are more susceptible to osteoporosis, the bone wasting dis-ease because calcium ions from bones are being used to maintain the iso-structure or alkaline pH of the blood at 7.365,” states Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of Research at the pH Miracle Living Center in San Diego, California.

Dr. Young states, “Osteoporosis is a known risk of celiac disease and has been explained by a failure to absorb calcium or vitamin D and more importantly the inability to manufacture stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine due to congestion from animal proteins and damage to the intestinal villi from dietary acids – especially from protein.”

A study in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests celiac patients produce antibodies which attack a key protein that maintains bone health. According to Dr. Young, “these antibodies are created to buffer dietary acids, especially from animal protein to protect the alkaline design of the small intestine.”

Damage to the intestinal villi due to dietary acidosis explains why osteoporosis in those with the digestive disorder may not respond to calcium and vitamin D supplementation. Celiac disease is caused by a an over-acidic lifestyle and diet and from gluten, a congestive acidic protein found in wheat, barley, rye and oats which damage the small finger-like villi that line the small intestine and play a key role in the production of stem cells and red blood cells. When damaged and inflamed, the villi are unable to create needed stem cells for red blood cell production. The damage to the intestinal villi also leads to the acidic symptoms of diarrhoea iron deficiency and then malnutrition.

Celiac affects one in 100 people, and of these a significant proportion may go on to develop osteoporosis – a symptom of the bones in helping to maintain the alkaline design of the blood that leads to an increased risk of painful and disabling fractures.

Scientists at the University of Edinburgh say it may be a protein called osteoprotegerin which holds the key to the link between celiac disease and osteoporosis.  According to Dr. Young, “the protein osteoprotegerin is a by-product of bone degeneration and the release of calcium ions into the blood to maintains its iso-structure.”

Traditional understanding of its cause has left some people with the condition with little hope that their symptoms and quality of life will improve. But with Dr. Young’s discovery of what causes celiac dis-ease there is finally hope.

In the UK 20% of the celiac patients tested, antibodies were produced which stopped this protein – crucial for maintaining bone strength – from working effectively. Lead researcher Professor Stuart Ralston from the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, said: “This is a very exciting step forward. Not only have we discovered a new reason to explain why osteoporosis occurs in coeliac disease, but we have also found that it responds very well to drugs that prevent bone tissue removal.

“Testing for these antibodies could make a real and important difference to the lives of people with coeliac disease by alerting us to the risk of osteoporosis and helping us find the correct treatment for them.” Sarah Sleet, head of Coeliac UK said: “Osteoporosis is a damaging complication of coeliac disease and our traditional understanding of its cause has left some people with the condition with little hope that their symptoms and quality of life will improve. This new breakthrough in understanding and treatment will give renewed hope to our members struggling with their condition.”

Dr Claire Bowring, medical policy officer with the National Osteoporosis Society said: “We already know that coeliac disease is a risk factor for osteoporosis and that early diagnosis and treatment of coeliac disease gives the best chance of improving bone density. A better understanding of the relationship between coeliac disease and osteoporosis will enable clinicians to manage both conditions more effectively.” “Although this research is at an early stage it is certainly interesting and we look forward to more extensive work to identify how prevalent this antibody is in people with coeliac disease.”

In conclusion Dr. Young states, “there is only one cause of celiac dis-ease and one cause of osteoporosis – can you say “ACID.” The acids that cause celiac and osteoporosis come from animal proteins, high sugar fruits, starchy carbohydrates, grains with gluten and dairy products.  Eliminate these acidic foods and start an alkaline diet and not only will you begin to heal the small intestines but you will stop the degeneration of the bones.”

Testing Your Water for pH and Antioxidant Potential!

Is Your Water Alkaline and Antioxidant Rich?

You will notice 3 glasses of water with added pH reagent showing different colors. The glass of water on the left turned orange when the reagent was added indicating an acidic pH. The glass of water in the middle showed a very light green when reagent was added indicating a neutral water or a water with a pH of 7. The last glass of water on the right had 5 drops of puripHy added with the reagent indicating a high pH water of 9.5 to 10 and a high level of antioxidants.

You can also do another experiment to test antioxidant potential by taking one inch of tap water, adding 10 drops of iodine and 10 drops of puripHy and then watching what happens. If the water being tested has sufficient antioxidants or electrons it will neutralize the iodine and the water will remain clear and clean rather than changing a darker color of orange to red.

The Surgical Removal of a Loa Loa Parasite

This is the surgical removal of 20 cm long Loa Loa worm from the human eye.
This worm was seen originally in West Africa.

Loa loa is a thread-like worm that lives under the skin in the subcutaneous fat causing loiasis. Because it is often spotted migrating in the eye, it is known as the eye worm. Loiasis is endemic to 11 countries and 12 million Africans are infected. The disease is also known as subcutaneous filariasis, Calabar swellings, African eye worm infection, Loa loa filariasis and Fugitive swelling.
Loiasis is carried by day-biting deer and mango flies. They both live in rain forests and warm swamps in central and western Africa. Deer fly’s bite is very painful because it has to rip skin apart in order to drink blood. It does not have a narrow sophisticated feeding tube like that of a mosquito. A deer fly is about 5–20 mm in length.

The life cycle of Loa loa starts, when a Loa loa female gives birth to living microfilariae (prelarval eggs) inside the skin of an infected human. The microfilariae travel in peripheral blood during daytime, but during the night (noncirculation phase) they reside in the lungs. When a noninfected deer fly takes a blood meal from an infected human, it ingests microfilariae. The microfilariae lose their sheaths, migrate from the fly’s midgut to the hemocoel and eventually to the thoracic muscles. There they develop into first stage and eventually into third stage (infective) filarial larvae. The development inside the fly takes up to two weeks. They migrate to the fly’s proboscis (the snout) and invade another human during the next blood meal. The third stage larvae are transferred from the deer fly’s mouth parts to the skin. They burrow into the bite wound and enter the subcutaneous layer where they mature into adults in one year. The cycle is completed, when male and female mate and release microfilariae into the bloodstream. Loa loa adults live up to 17 years.

Adult Loa loa male is about 30–34 mm long and 0.35–0.42 mm thick; Loa loa female about 40–70 mm long and 0.5 mm thick. Loa loa migrates in the subcutaneous layer. When it stops moving, the surrounding tissue develops Calabar swelling. This often occurs in joints, which are its usual stopping points. If an adult Loa loa is killed, its body becomes waste, which causes abscesses and pus. The waste products need to be eliminated to make sure that the surrounding tissue and cells are not disturbed. If the body cannot get rid of the waste, it restricts it by fibrosis.

Diagnosis can be made by analyzing blood under a microscope to find Loa loa microfilariae. Microfilariae have also been found in urine, sputum and spinal fluids. The blood sample needs to be taken during the day, when the microfilariae are travelling in the bloodstream (peripheral blood circulation). According to some estimates 30 % of loiasis patients do not have microfilariae in their bloodstream or have so small quantities that they are rarely seen in microscopic examinations. An immunoassay for detecting circulating antigens excreted by adult Loa loa can be used (depending on your health care provider). Identification of an adult worm is possible from a tissue sample collected during a subcutaneous biopsy. Sometimes adult worms are seen migrating across the eye, but the short time (often only 15 minutes) for the worm’s passage through the conjunctiva makes this observation less used. Calabar swellings are also of diagnostic value.

Loiasis is usually treated with diethylcarbamazine (DEC) or sometimes with ivermectin. DEC is effective against microfilariae and less effective against adult worms. Treatment with DEC is not advised for patients with high quantities of microfilariae because those patiens can develop encephalopathy (brain disease). When side effects need to be minimized, albendazole can be used instead. Sometimes eye worms can be removed surgically, although the time frame during which the removal must be done is very short. After the surgery, DEC therapy should follow to manage other adult worms and microfilariae.
